WATER FILLING STATION | 2017
The Forks National Historic Site, Winnipeg
With a distinct form and colour, an interactive storyline, and button-activated water dispensers on each end, the Forks Water Filling Station invites curiosity, making users aware of the physical, ecological and social impacts of drinking water. The structure is made of bent aluminum pipe, shaped into a continuous archway that represents the aqueduct that supplies the City of Winnipeg with its drinking water. In three languages - Ojibway, French, and English - a narrative of colourful decals tell the story of how drinking water travels from Shoal Lake to Winnipeg’s taps.
