General Strike Memorial Competition (in collaboration with UrbanInk)

11,636 portrays the pivotal vote count that marked the beginning of the Winnipeg General Strike - 11,112 for and 524 against. In the 1900s, marbles were used in ballot boxes to denote votes – white for yes, black for no. Together, these marbles are a symbolic gesture of the tremendous power of unity in the labour movement–many individual elements that join to create a large and formidable whole.
